just one of those days =/
"Watching the rain fall outside the large double pane windows, she takes a sip of her coffee. The warm liquid burning the tip of her tongue while warming her throat and stomach; she sets the cup down on the table. Turning to look at her notebook, she picks up her pen and begins writing: “What else is there but unlawful presumptions of the human mind? If not discretion in the smallest form or better, a mind of chaotic thought and light…” Rain sets her pen down and grumbles. The large words giving her migraine a run for its money, she runs her fingers through her hair and looks around her at the other tables. People sitting and talking, eating, working on homework or just being quiet and trying not to fall asleep; watching just for the slight twitch of a pen or a new conversation, she focuses back on her laptop, the same song on repeat and her notebook with the one sentence spilling unimportant information. Craving the company of another, she takes out her phone. Scrolling through her contacts, a tear rolls down her face and she quickly wipes it away as her phone begins to buzz. Looking down at the new caller she answers her mother, hating instantly how she knows that her broken daughter was crying. She bites back tears as her mother tries to get her to talk about what was bugging her. Trying desperately to avoid the topic, Rain quickly hangs up and glances out the window at the rainy storm. The cold of an open door nips at her hands and she glances around the room. The smell of hamburgers wafts through her nose and the constant chatter of aimless bullshit continuing on around her. Desperately wanting to head home to the warmth of her bed, she remains in her seat and puts her phone away. Knowing only that her dreaded father waited impatiently for her depressing return; rubbing the bruise on her arm she pulls her jacket down again and closes her eyes for a brief moment. Opening them to a scraping of a chair being pulled from under a table, she looks up and sighs. Giving up from her nervousness of going home, she begins packing her belongings and stands from the table. Putting her bags over her shoulder, she grabs her empty coffee cup and tosses it in the nearest garbage can and heads out into the rain.
Making her way towards her car, she wipes a stray tear from her eyes as she ducks under a lower branch. Water springs out onto her head and she grumbles under her breath. She takes out her keys and unlocks her car, opening the door; she throws her bag on the passenger seat and gets in. Wiping the tears from her eyes as she starts the engine and pulls out of the parking spot, Rain bites her lip, hard. She rubs the pain from her eyes and continues towards the stop light, glancing at her phone for a bit she looks back at the road and tries desperately to focus on everything going on around her. She pulls to the side of the road and turns off the ignition as the sobs burst from her throat and the tears fall. Rain clutches the steering wheel tightly, her knuckles turning white; she sobs painfully and closes her eyes trying to hold back tears.
Her phone vibrates on the seat and she looks over at it through the tears, her boyfriend’s number pops up and she shakes her head letting it go to voice mail. He calls again and the sobs emerge from her throat as she ignores it yet again. A pain erupts in her lower abdomen and she cries out in pain, the tears continue to fall softly from her make up stained eyes. Rain lets out a cautious whimper as she starts the car again and begins her painful drive home. Instead of turning right, she turned left and headed straight for his place. Parking next to his driveway she barely managed to get out of her car before feeling his arms around her. She clings onto him and sobs painfully. Managing to lift her into his arms, he seats them onto the driveway and holds her close to him; she sobs softly and clings onto him. The pain in her mind, her heart and her soul stumped her as he merely asked what was wrong. Looking him in the eyes one word came and she said it, he looked away from her puffy red eyes and loose white blouse and black jacket. Turning his head back to face her, a tear fell from his own eye, and he quickly brushed it away. Saying sorry didn't matter to her, it wasn't what she was looking for; Rain caressed the side of his face with her hand as more tears fell from her eyes. He smiled softly and rested his hand on hers. He muttered those three simple words and her heart melted, knowing that he did care and he was there for her. But that depression dwelling inside her bit at her sudden happiness and growled at his difference in her pain. Rain shook her head and mumbled, “I’m sorry…” Clutching her close to his arms, he laid back and held her tightly to him. Staring up at the stars they both sighed.
Such pain, such loss and such a terrible event that had to occur in just a month of them being together; but in the end and waking up every other day since the abortion is a day of new discovery. It’s all an adventure, might not be a pleasant one…but it shall never be forgotten. "
